One of the bright stars of Uzbek theater art and an actress at the Muqimiy Musical Drama Theater, Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova was born in 1896 in the village of Rishton, Rishton District, Fergana Region.
Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova began her creative career in 1923 in the Kokand women's amateur circle, and worked as an actress at the Kokand Theater (1924-1928), the Andijan Regional Musical Drama Theater (1928-1931), the Margilan Theater (1931-1934), and the Uzbek State Musical Theater in Tashkent (1934-1939). From 1939 to 1940, she was the artistic director of the women's dutar ensemble under the Uzbek State Philharmonic, and from 1940 to 1973, she worked as a leading actress at the Muqimiy Musical Drama Theater.
The character of Asker's Aunt in the play «Arshin Mal Alan» by U. Hajibeyov, staged at the Kokand Theater in 1925, was the first role Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova created on the theater stage. Later, the actress created complex female characters in dramas and musical dramas, such as Layli in Khurshid’s «Layli and Majnun» (1925), Shirin in «Farhad and Shirin» (1926), Adelma in C. Gozzi’s «Princess Turandot» (1928), Smeraldina in C. Goldoni’s «The Servant of Two Masters» (1929), Roziya in K. Yashin and T. Jalilov’s «The Unjust» (1930), Oysara in K. Yashin, T. Sodiqov, and R. Glier’s «Gulsara» (1935), and Yosuman in Khurshid, Uspenskiy, and G. Mushel’s «Farhad and Shirin», which are still remembered by theater fans.
Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova enriched her repertoire at the Muqimiy Theater with roles such as Maysara in Hamza and H. To’xtasinov’s «Maysara’s Trick» (1943), Khayri aunt in K. Yashin and T. Jalilov’s «Oftobxon» (1943), Oyijon in S. Abdulla, T. Jalilov, and B. Nadejdin’s «Alpomish» (1950-1962), Mastura the flirt in Hamza, T. Jalilov, and G. Sabitov’s «Secrets of the Paranji» (1946-1960), Risolat the seamstress in S. Abdulla, T. Jalilov, and G. Mushel’s «Muqimiy» (1949-1967), and Kimyo in K. Yashin, T. Jalilov, and G. Sabitov’s «Nurxon». With the roles she created at the Muqimiy Theater, the actress earned the respect and attention of many fans as a great talent and a mature artist.
Having created mature roles on the Uzbek theater stage, the actress also created bright and memorable characters in cinema, gaining her own place and creative style in film art. While the role of the spinning woman in the 1931 film «Ozod» was the actress's first role in cinema, her deeply emotional and diverse characters in films such as A. Usoltsev’s «Oath» (1937) (Mother), N. G’aniev’s «Shohi So’zana» (1947) (Xolnisa), K. Yormatov’s «The Rahmonova Sisters» (1955) (Sharofat), Z. Sabitov’s «Children» (1959) (The Insane Woman), Sh. Abbosov’s «You Are Not an Orphan» (1963) (Fatima opa), «There Is Talk in the Neighborhood» (1961) (Mehriniso), and A. Akbarxo’jaev’s «Gift» (1972) (Hadya) became important events not only in the actress's work but also in the history of Uzbek cinema.
In particular, Fatima opa in «You Are Not an Orphan», Mehriniso in «There Is Talk in the Neighborhood», and the Insane Woman in «Children» were the actress's serious achievements in cinema, and she gained fame as the unique and peerless performer of the mother role on the stage of the Uzbek musical drama theater and in our national cinema.
Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova is also a singer who skillfully performed folk songs such as «Quling», «Uzgancha», «Yor-yor», «Hakalakam o’ynasamman», «Jambilxon», «Yorginam», «Omon bo’laylik», and others.
Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova lived a long and meaningful life. Her creative work was rewarded with the titles of «People's Artist of Uzbekistan» and «People's Artist», and she was honored with orders and medals.
As a skilled performer of the mother role in Uzbek theater and cinema, Lutfixonim Sarimsoqova, who earned a rightful place in the history of Uzbek art, passed away in 1991 in Tashkent.
